Introducing pStyle - the stand-to-pee device

Krista (she/her) cannot focus if she needs to pee. It’s the third most important thing humans need to do to survive (after breathing and drinking water), but it’s often not easily accessible—especially for people with shorter urethras.

In 2006, she started the pStyle company in the hills of rural Tennessee. “When you’re working outdoors in the summer,” Krista explains, “you don’t want to hike back to the house just to pee—and you probably don’t want to squat in chigger- and tick-infested grass. In the winter, there’s no need to bare your butt to the cold.”

The pStyle is a stand-to-pee device—a handheld funnel made of hard plastic that allows you to pee from a standing position. You can use it while fully clothed, and it even has a design that lets you wipe with it when you’re done peeing.

Over the past two decades, Krista and her co-workers have shipped hundreds of thousands of pStyles worldwide. The pStyle has resonated with a diverse range of people: hikers, farmers, festivalgoers, people with disabilities, and people of all gender experiences—even a few cis men!

She founded the pStyle company with trans feminist ethics at its core, employing other local queers in the business.

Peeing is a matter of bodily autonomy, and the pStyle empowers people to take control. The business has remained simple and streamlined, focused on making a quality product available at an affordable price.

The pStyle company offers just two products: the pStyle and the pCase, handmade organic canvas cases that can be clipped to a belt loop or slipped inside a bag. Over the years, they’ve built an infrastructure to produce the cases in-house from start to finish, while the pStyles are made down the road at a woman-owned injection molding factory.

There are many pStyle and pCase designs to choose from. The pStyle comes in five jewel-tone colors (two with glitter!), five skin tones, and a beautiful dark green made from recycled ocean plastic—reclaimed fishing nets and trawls that are otherwise deadly to marine life when discarded in the ocean.

The pCase is available in a few solid colors and a plethora of other designs, ranging from a wild black-and-white hatchmark and flower pattern to a forest-themed design featuring squirrels, bunnies, owls, and foxes.

Go check out their website! They’re excited to be part of the EIQ community and ready to help you live out your stand-to-pee dreams.
